10 SEO Myths Busted

Search Engine Optimization has become an inseparable part of online marketing, so today let’s figure out the 10 SEO Myths that are busted.

Myth #1: Keyword density is a problem that existed in the past as well as nowadays. Just choosing one keyword and stuffing your page with the same word will not work. Often keywords are repetitively and redundantly used in links, footers, anchor texts and titles. You must know that usually people search for several words or phrases, not just one word. Like you are talking about investment, you should mention stock market, real estate or transport.

Myth #2: They say including a keyword in the URL is good, but it is not true as it will not boost your website. It may only help if you have your product’s name in your website’s URL. But, for example, if you are searching for a book, you will look for it in Amazon, or music at iTunes. Every page must have unique URL. You can surpass a website that has keyword in its URL by good marketing. Search engines distinguish specific addresses related to the content.

Myth #3: Duplicate content penalty is another myth. Google doesn’t penalize websites for having duplicate content, however it does not mean that duplicate content will not have negative impact on your rankings. Many people say I got caught by Panda or Penguin Update. Usually penalties are related to your website and not search engine algorithm change. Algorithm changes are constant for maintaining quality and they can target on-page or off-page.

Myth #4: Paid links are bad.  It is not always bad to pay for links. That’s not true that paid links can sink your ranking. Paid links may not meet search engine’s guidelines, but many websites still benefit from them.

Myth #5: Higher PageRank provides better search engine ranking. Google considers PageRank as just one of the many other factors. In general the PageRank seen on your toolbar doesn’t coincide with the real-time value used by Google. You should not confure search engine ranking with PageRank.
Myth #6: It’s hard to find good SEO advice; you should try to find out who the adviser is and what experience he has.

Myth #7: SEO is the same. You can’t use the same SEO advice for news, blogging or e-commerce website, it’ not all the same. Apply to your thinking and think logically and use different techniques for different websites.

Myth #8: SEO is one thing. In reality SEO comprises of 1000 different things that work together and push up your website. One single thing/service cannot push up a website in search engines.

Myth #9: You should submit every page on Google. This is another myth, as submitting every page on Google or Bing will neither speed up the indexing nor improve your ranking. For shortening the indexing time just add links from high traffic pages.

Myth #10: Another myth says SEO is dead; well the thing is how you define SEO. If your goal is to get #1 ranking then SEO is dead, but if you bring value to a business, then you are talking about design, copywriting and marketing in this case it is alive.
